Summary
This paper deals with two unedited stichera in honor of the martyr Acacius. They are preserved in the Athonite manuscript Μεγίστη Λαύρα Γ 74 (XIth C.), f. 63v, sub die 8th of May. They are supplied with palaeo-byzantine neumes of the kind known as Chartres notation. Ms. Μεγίστη Λαύρα Γ 74 as well as being one of the most ancient witnesses to the liturgical collection called sticherarion, is the only source for the hymns given above, according to what we know so far. After a short overview of the sticheron as a literary genre, the author moves on to the description of the manuscript. Then he copes with the rhythmical and rhetorical structure of the two stichera, which is the very core of the paper. The hymns are split into κῶλα based both on the medial dots entered by the scribe and the syntax of the text overall. The literary features of the analyzed texts are closely examinated in order to detect the major biblical topoi involved in them. Finally, the paper includes an Italian translation of the Greek text and outlines some issues with regard to relative chronology.
