Καραγκούνης Κωνσταντίνος, Ένας αυτόγραφος κώδικας του Απόστολου Κώνστα Χίου, ανακαλυφθείς πρόσφατα στα Άνω Λεχώνια Πηλίου της Μαγνησίας

Konstantinos Karagounis,
An autograph codex of Apostolos Konstas of Chios, recently discovered in Ano Lechonia, Pelion, Magnesia

Abstract. An autograph code of Apostolos Konstas Chios, recently discovered in Pelion’s Lechonia in Magnesia. Apostolos Konstas Chios, teacher, theorist and exegetist (one who concerned himself with notation’s interpretation) of the Chanting Art from the late 18th to the first third of the 19th century, is, moreover, famous for his rich codicographic work, which exceeds in number one hundred and twenty <120> musical and theoretical autographs -ˇ‐while continuously labeled new manuscripts are discovered -ˇ‐ ubiquitous in almost all areas of the East Orthodox Churches. For the life and work of Apostolos (theoretical, compositional, exegetical, codicographic work etc.). Constantine Psachos, Simon Karas, and more recently, Prof. Gregory Stathis, Thomas Apostolopoulos (PhD) and others, have produced significant scientific studies about Apostolos Konstas. The discovery of a still unknown autograph of Apostolos Konstas, of course, cannot be surprising to the musicological research community, given the rich copying-ˇ‐quick handwriting activity of the man, who used it both for professional scope and as a source of income for daily life. What special interest shows, therefore, a very small autograph by Konstas, which contains theoretical texts, and which was found recently in a private collection in the village of Pelion’s Lechonia (Thessaly, Magnesia), in order to justify this presentation?
